“I am so clever that sometimes I don’t understand a single word of what I am saying.” Oscar Wilde

There’s a new virus going around. It’s more dangerous than Covid, and it only infects politicians.
It’s the “I Don’t Know What 'No Man Left Behind' Means” virus. Our soldiers know what it means, but not politicians.
Symptoms include cutting and running when the going gets tough.
And there is no cure.
The virus has been around a while. While American soldiers waited to be rescued off a rooftop in Benghazi, Obama slunk off and couldn’t be found.
Chief Justice Roberts high-tailed it to Italy after he single-handedly pushed through an unpopular Obamacare.
And Democrat legislators routinely hit the road when a bill comes up that they don’t like.
This week thousands of Americans ended up stuck in Islam-terrorist-occupied Afghanistan
after President Joe withdrew American troops.
While this transpired, Joe went on vacation. And so did Jen Psaki. True to form, we didn’t hear from Kamala for five days. (Reportedly she was busy holding meetings on “the importance of childcare and paid leave benefits.”)
It wasn’t that Joe didn’t have a Plan. He had one, it just wasn’t a good one.
The plan was to leave Afghanistan and not give a second thought for those who were left behind.
That included people loyal to the U.S., like Afghan translators, and American civilians. All are being left swinging in the breeze.
Joe’s plan includes focusing on getting Afghan refugees to the U.S., but not American citizens.
It includes double talk by a shockingly mediocre State Department and military leadership.
“It’s not a foregone conclusion, in my professional military estimate, that the Taliban automatically win and Kabul falls, or any of those kind of dire predictions,” Joint Chief of Staff Army Gen. Mark A. Milley said at a press briefing in May.
“There’s a significant military capability in the Afghan government, and we have to see how this plays out.”
Well, it didn’t. Play out. Probably because Milley and his Pentagon buddies were too busy getting our military “woke.”
On August 12, Joe’s State Department mealy-mouthed spokesmen, Edward Price, assured that Secretary Blinken “had an opportunity to speak with Afghanistan President Ghani to coordinate our planning.”
Well, the Taliban seized the presidential palace on Sunday, and President Ghani took off the same day in a helicopter full of cash.
So it didn't play out.
Yesterday the State Department reported the president is relying on the Taliban to safely usher those who wanted to get to the Hamid Karzi International Airport, and if they don't give them safe passage, “we will hold the Taliban accountable.”
This was while Taliban soldiers occupied the country’s capital, shooting at civilians and raping women.
It was while Taliban soldiers scooped up billions of dollars worth of U.S. helicopters, Humvees, guns and ammunitions that Joe left behind.
Sadly, this “illness” isn’t just affecting Joe.
It is affecting politicians who have never held a real job; who never served in the military; who have a history of protecting their own rear ends; and who are not very bright.
These are people who like nice things, like money, mansions, merry-making and milking the system.
But they don’t care very much about you.
Or the Afghans to whom the U.S. made promises; the women and children brutalized by the Taliban.
Or the courageous people in Hong Kong and Taiwan, who now know they can no longer count on America as the Shining City on the Hill.
At least not with this president.
Hold the line, America.
Where We Go One, We Go All.
