“Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.” Mark Twain

If you want to do a hatchet job, you can do that at Stumpy’s Hatchet House, the new and unusual, BYOB, hatchet-throwing franchise in New Jersey.
Or you can join the journalistic team at 60 Minutes.
Last week the CBS news magazine devoted a segment to Florida Gov. DeSantis’ distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine in his state.
The report’s focus was not on Florida’s excellent record of saving the lives “of the most vulnerable,” but on what CBS called the governor’s Pay to Play.
The segment accused DeSantis of favoring Florida grocery chain Publix for vaccine distribution, in payback for a campaign contribution.
CBS spent three months beating the bushes in an attempt to find dirt on the popular governor and his successful handling of his state’s Covid-19 vaccine rollout.
And when the “investigation” was completed they found no hard evidence. Nada. Just accusations, and a heavily edited report.
During the segment, DeSantis was shown explaining Florida’s vaccine distribution plan to 60 Minutes journalist Sharyn Alfonsi (recipient of the duPont-Columbia journalism award), but much of DeSantis’ two-minute response ended up on the cutting room floor.
Or as DeSantis described it, “They cut out everything that showed that their narrative wasn’t a piece of horse manure.”
Democrat Palm Beach County Mayor Dave Kerner called the network’s report “intentionally false.” And State Emergency Management Director Jared Moskowitz, using a Biden-ism, called the report “absolute malarkey.”
“We reached out to all pharmacies and they (Publix) were the only one who at the time could execute on the mission,” he tweeted. “The federal government delayed the federal pharmacy program and we yet again stepped up first to serve more seniors.”
Although CBS was caught with its investigative pants down, that didn’t deter them from doubling down on their dirty editing.
But no one was fooled. We know the drill.
It’s what happens when you dare run for office as “Not a Democrat” today.
It’s what happens if, when elected, you actually do the job, like DeSantis and Donald Trump, and don’t stay holed up in your basement.
But, even when you do a good job, Left-leaning media outlets like 60 Minutes have the power, and the mandate, to make it look like you didn’t.
On the other hand, take New York’s Gov. Cuomo. (Please, take Gov. Cuomo.)
The governor’s potential rap sheet is substantial, like Hunter Biden’s.
But instead of indictments, Cuomo got an Emmy, and both guys got book deals from what turns out to be “interconnected” publishers Simon & Schuster, and Simon & Schuster imprint Gallery Books, and Penguin Random House.
As confusing as it is, it seems in 2020, the German media group, Bertelsmann-subsidiary Penguin Random House, signed a deal to purchase Simon & Schuster. From ViacomCBS.
All a part of one big happy family.
A “leader” who tells the “riveting story of how he took charge in the fight against Covid-29…offering hard-won lessons in leadership,” in Cuomo’s American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the Covid-19 Pandemic,” and Beautiful Things, a Hunter Biden memoir about sniffing parmesan from a shag carpet.
Pay to Play really is in the eyes of the beholder. Just as “Jim Crowe” laws are.
It doesn’t sound like Joe Biden read Georgia’s new voting bill, SB202, The Election Integrity Act of 2021, signed into law on March 25, yet he says it’s “Jim Crowe on steroids.”
It's not. The Georgia bill's goal is to instill faith in its voting system.
“Following the 2018 and 2020 elections," it states, "there was a significant lack of confidence in Georgia election systems.
"With many electors concerned about allegations of rampant voter suppression, and many electors concerned about allegations of rampant voter fraud.”
President Joe doesn't read it that way, because he knows what it will mean for him and Democrats.
If states revamp their voting laws to discourage fraud, as Georgia and other states are, it’ll be curtains for Joe and Nancy Pelosi’s HR1, the bill that is designed so Republicans won’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of ever being elected ever again.
Regardless, Joe continues to say Georgia’s bill, making voter I.D.’s a requirement, is racist to black Americans, whom Joe says, don’t know how to get an I.D. And he was also very upset that voters on line to vote can’t get food or water…
President Joe’s media, who also didn’t seem to read the Georgia law, ran with it.
But no one was fooled.
If HR1 is defeated, voting integrity will be improved. And Democrats will not be pleased.
But Americans will. Most especially those who voted for Donald Trump. Those who wanted a hearing on possible voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
And those who like governors who do a good job. For the people.
Hold the line, America.
