July 17, 2024, And Every Wednesday

Everyone remembers where they were the day John F. Kennedy was shot. Walter Cronkite’s voice as he removed his glasses in the newsroom, looked up at the clock on the wall, and told us the news.
Our president was dead.
Everyone will remember where they were the day Donald Trump was shot. And they will tell you. They already have.
But who cares where they were? The retelling makes the assassination attempt less of a miracle. And it was a miracle.
As many have said about Trump after last Saturday, God wasn’t finished with him yet.
Democrats and anti-Trumpers did everything they could to make him quit. They indicted him, impeached him, tried to bankrupt and humiliate him. What else was left?
We saw what was left on Saturday. People recorded it in their phones.
The Left hates Donald Trump, and wonder why his supporters support him. They’ll never understand.
At the Republican Convention we heard from people who know him.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders told about her time as Trump’s White House press secretary. As one of the first women in the job, a conservative and a mother, she took her lumps.
In 2018 she was mocked at the Correspondents Dinner by comedian Michelle Wolf, who attacked her looks and her work.
In 2018 she and her family were thrown out of a Lexington, Virginia restaurant by Red Hen owner Stephanie Wilkinson, because “she worked for POTUS.”
“At one point,” she recalled for the audience, “President Trump took me aside, and said, ‘Sarah, you’re smart, you’re beautiful, and you do your job well.”
Today she’s governor of Arkansas. Michelle Wolf still isn’t funny, and I think the Red Hen went out of business.
“This is a man who is a gift to us as a nation,” former HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson told the Convention audience.
“The first time I met him was before either of us got into the public arena. It was at Mar-a-Lago. Someone said ‘Rod Stewart just came in,’ and Trump said, ‘I don’t care. I’m with Dr. Ben Carson.'”
Michael Morin’s sister, Rachel Morin was the mother of five who was killed by an illegal El Salvadorian. Morin spoke at the Convention and said he blamed the president and vice president for the open borders.
“To this day, we have not heard from Joe Biden or Kamala Harris,” Morin said. “But when Rachel was killed, President Trump called my family to offer his condolences.
“He wanted to meet with us. He cared. That is leadership.”
Other speakers talked about Trump as the guy who could fix it. The border, crime on the streets, the Fentanyl problem. They were sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Then Rep. Steve Scalise shared something Trump never talked about.
“Many of you know I was the survivor of a politically motivated shooting in 2017. Not many know that while I was fighting for my life, Donald Trump was one of the first to come console my family at the hospital.
“That’s the kind of leader he is. Courageous under fire. Compassionate towards others.”
True.
While on trial in Manhattan, Trump visited the bodega where clerk Jose Alba stabbed an attacker in self-defense, and then was charged with murder by District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Trump held a rally in the Bronx, in between court sessions.
And people were glad someone cared.
In March he attended the funeral of slain New York City police officer Jonathan Diller, while Joe and Obama and Bill Clinton fundraised at Radio City.
And Trump said he will attend the funeral of Corey Comperatore who was tragically shot and killed at the Butler, Pa. rally.
Once we saw that Trump was safe, there were some light notes.
Building on the foolish viciousness of the Left, the Babylon Bee published funny-phony articles, Trump Indicted For Inciting Assassination Attempt, and Democrats Order Flags to be Flown at Half-Staff As Trump Still Alive.
Once we saw that he was safe, it was good to be able to laugh. And the only reason we can is because we have God and Trump’s Guardian Angel to thank for that.
Thank God. Please continue to keep him safe.
Hold the line, America.
Stay strong, Patriots
