If you think the American people were disappointed seeing FBI Director James Comey fold like a cheap suit, imagine how Lady Justice must have felt.
"Ever since the 15th Century I've been pictured wearing a blindfold," she said, tight-lipped, watching Comey's press conference. This ancient goddess was clearly upset!
"You think I wear this blindfold for kicks! 'Blind Justice!' Get it? The blindfold is supposed to represent 'Objectivity!'"
Shifting the Scales of Justice and her Sword onto a table, this Allegorical Personification of the Moral Force in Judicial Systems, became reflective. She ticked off, one by one, on her fingers the reasons for her existence. Which, she said, could also be found in Wikipedia.
"'Justice is to be meted out objectively, without fear, without favor, regardless of money, wealth, fame, power or identity, blind justice and impartiality.' At least that's what supposed to happen, weighing the evidence," she said, pointing to the Scales.
"I've seen it all, and I know a thing or two about the law," she said, "which obviously none of the career lawyers in Washington do, and that includes Comey, the Clintons, and Loretta Lynch, your attorney general.
"You have to realize a statute is very specific. Each word means something. A prosecutor must satisfy every element of the crime as defined by the law that applies to the case the prosecutor is bringing.
"There was no requirement of intent in 18 U.S. Code 793(f)," she said, shaking her head sadly. "Comey supplied that requirement. That provision is not in the statute.
"'Whoever, being entrusted with," she quoted from the statute, "...through gross negligence permits the same to be removed from its proper place of custody...or destroyed, and fails to make prompt report of such loss...shall be fined under this title or imprisoned more than ten years, or both.
"James Comey has not done his job," she said. "His job was to gather information. It was not his job to tell the attorney general not to prosecute. And her job was certainly not to let Hillary Clinton walk free.
"There is no doubt whatsoever. Justice has been dealt a deadly blow.
"Your former president, Bill Clinton, and your current president have sneered at the United States Constitution and the Rule of Law. James Comey has finished the job.
"I have seen, to my dismay, the politicization of your legal system, which, we are told, is so as not to upset the political future of the country. Translated that has meant, not to upset the upcoming elections, in 2012 and now in 2016.
"When was that ever the goal of law and order? But there it is, like the Supreme Court's handling of Obamacare and your president's handling of Benghazi.
"Just the other day I spoke with Lady Liberty about the pitiful state of your borders. She spoke at great length about those who break your laws to enter your country illegally, then suffer no consequences for their actions, but are allowed to stay without any punishment. Needless to say, Lady Liberty is as upset as I am.
"Beware! It seems to me that there is something unsavory and illegal going on, and I believe it is a classic, 'You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours' scenario.
"I think Bill Clinton told Lorette Lynch, 'Do this for me and you'll have a job.'
"And she did.
"I think Jim Comey was told, "Do this for me and you'll keep your job.
"And he did.
"And I believe Barack Hussein Obama told Hillary, "Do this, and you'll be president and so will I!
"Why do you place your country in the hands of such people? Liars who flaunt their disrespect for the law? Lawyers who do not enforce your laws? Whatever happened to the phrase, 'Throw the book at her!' That's what this lady needs, never, ever a place at the head of your government.
"I have heard it said that your government moves slowly, but not from what I am seeing! In less than a week the attorney general had an improper meeting with the spouse of a woman who was under scrutiny, by the Department of Justice, for a crime akin to treason;
"The FBI then conducted an interview, with that woman under scrutiny, on the weekend, then announced one business day later that she should not be prosecuted;
"The next day, the attorney general announced the Hillary Clinton case was closed;
"And the following day Hillary Clinton was flying on Air Force One, with your president, to campaign for herself, appearing gratuitously behind a lectern emblazed with the Presidential Seal, stating, 'The President of the United States.'"
"Shocking, not to mention subliminal!
"I observed that you celebrated the independence of your country this week. In fact I watched some documentaries on TV about your Revolutionary War. Very moving. The sacrifices your forebears chose to make to gain that precious commodity, Freedom, were admirable.
"If I recall, the troops under the guidance of the esteemed Gen. George Washington, were fighting without the bare necessities, food, shoes and proper clothing. It was during the Battle of Trenton that these brave men were reduced to eating their shoes! But they never abandoned the cause.
"I wonder. What do you think those men, and George Washington and the Founding Fathers would think if they could see the men and women who are now entrusted with the care of the nation they created? How they are applying the law of the land. How they are willing to trade their country for 30 pieces of silver.
"It's a question worth asking."
