We Don't Buy Tea From the Crown Anymore

In May, 2012, Queen Elizabeth celebrated her Diamond Jubilee, and of course the American media covered it.

But during the TV coverage, it came as a surprise that perky Katie Couric didn't get an interview with the lady of the day, Queen Elizabeth. As it turns out, the Queen doesn't do interviews.

Equally as surprising was Katie making a "misstep," thinking she could tread where commoners cannot: the Buckingham Palace Balcony.

"No, no, Ms. Couric," she was scolded. She had wrongly assumed that she could exercise good ol' American freedoms in Britain. "Only royals are allowed to step onto that balcony," she was told firmly.

It was a surprise because Americans aren't used to hearing things like that.

But what difference does it make? It was all in good fun. Americans loved the pomp and circumstance, learning about what the royals do and what they have, and what commoners can't do and don't have.

It was a walk down memory lane, back to 1776. It was amusing, while at the same time making viewers happy they weren't British subjects anymore.

The monarchy is a nice place to visit, but who wants to live there?

Well, Tony Blair does and so do whatever's left of the Queen's "colonies."

Recently the hosts on FOX and Friends asked former Prime Minister Tony Blair about our presidential race. "Is anger enough?"

We all thought it was enough in 1776.

But why ask Tony Blair? He's a wonderful guy and Great Britain is a staunch ally, but, by the by, Blair is a Hillary supporter.

And he pays allegiance to a monarch.

With Britain up to its neck in Muslim communities where British police dare not go, Great Britain has enough problems of its own without commenting on ours.

Blair and the Queen are not on the same page as our slate of candidates, the ones who seek to clean up the quagmire that is Washington, candidates like Trump and Bernie.

          People like them.

When they asked Blair for his input, maybe FOX forgot we don't buy tea from the Crown anymore, or pay taxes-without-representation anymore. So Tony Blair might not be the best person to ask about our elections. Nice as he is.

Maybe FOX forgot we have a Constitution, one that ensures our freedoms, including the right of The People to choose their presidential candidate, something Tony Blair can't understand.

We don't have a king anymore, or a queen with her thumb on the scale.

Or do we? Maybe we do, otherwise how can we explain what's going on in the 2016 election?

It has happened in other presidential elections, 2008, 2012, but it took a while for voters to realize the Republican Establishment did not have the country's or the Peoples' best interests in mind.

This time around the gloves are off, no holds are barred. The media, Democrats and the Republican Establishment are blatantly admitting they have put a hit out on Trump, and they don't give a hoot what the people want.

That's new. The public nature of it. Exposing the ugly underbelly of the Republican Party, and it isn't a pretty sight.

But is it any surprise? Think about it.

We have witnessed an electoral process where the nominee, Hillary, can win by the toss of a coin, or by selecting a card from a deck, where a candidate, Bernie, can win the popular vote to the tune of 60 percent, but lose to Hillary because there is something called "Super Delegates."

And Bernie doesn't say a word about the system "being rigged."

We have a process where there was another, more capable woman, also female, like Hillary, running for the White House, and she was given virtually no notice. And when she dropped out of the race, there was no comment at all. Apparently only one woman can be the first female president.

All of this is reminiscent of the days of the reign of King George, dismissive disregard and disrespect for We the People, who are there only to be used and abused.

FOX may not remember, but we don't do that anymore.

Anger? Yeah, the People have finally seen the writing on the wall. They finally realize that they elect representatives, like Rubio and Nikki Haley, only to see them go over to the dark side.

They've seen Speaker of the House John Boehner replaced by his mini-me, Paul Ryan, both who have made Obama's job easier by giving the president whatever he wants.

So why wouldn't We the People want a change?

And we have a Constitution that was written to give us the voice to do so.

With so many thumbs on so many scales, it is hard for presidential candidates to buck the system.

But when it's a Movement, well, then, it gets easier.

          Just like in 1776.

          Hold the line, America.
