"Always remember that the future comes one day at a time.” Former Secretary of State Dean Acheson

We gave him a perfectly nice country, and look what he’s done to it.
But even now, there are people still trying to figure out what it is he’s doing, spending hours dissecting his State of the Union address.
Didn’t they hear him say he intends to bypass Congress whenever he can, using executive orders exactly like a dictator in a banana republic?
Look what he’s done to our dear, sweet country.
There were no shovel-ready jobs, just unemployment extensions.
There is no job creation, just bail-outs and food stamps.
Yes, he did change healthcare, so that now people ask one another, "Did you get the letter?”
You bet they did.
When the dust cleared only eleven percent of the previously uninsured got coverage from this law, while millions of Americans lost theirs, then finding they would have to pay unaffordable premiums with indefensibly high deductibles for their new plans while others received subsidies.
It was the equivalent of having no insurance at all.
There had to have been a better way. But that wasn’t the plan.
Businesses are going broke, closing down, or cutting back on any plans to expand. Business owners can’t afford to be successful. It’s too expensive. Why? The cost of Obamacare.
That was the plan.
Americans haven’t been this scared since those planes flew into the Twin Towers.
During Obama’s term of office, more than America’s credit rating has been downgraded. But if you ever listened to one of his speeches, you would have known what this president always had in mind for our country.
Obama is arrogant, petty and extremely thin-skinned. While the community organizer in him has no problem going after the opposition loaded for bear, he himself will not tolerate being judged or criticized. If you do, you will pay the price.
You will be targeted. You will be audited. You will be sued by Eric Holder.
If you voice an opinion he doesn’t like, if you threaten him at the polls, there will be consequences.
As for his own behavior the words "Accountability and Obama Administration” have been mutually exclusive.
He feels he’s accountable to no one and as a result, we have lost control of our country. In his five years in office, little by little he has carried forward his agenda, imposing a stranglehold on the country’s economy and its people.
His State of the Union speech this week was not the first time he told us his wish to bypass Congress and operate outside the Constitution.
In 2011 he addressed the Latino group La Raza,
"I know some people want me to bypass Congress and change the laws on my own. And believe me, right now dealing with Congress, the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting. But that’s not how our system works…That’s not how our democracy functions. That’s not how our Constitution is written.”
The La Raza audience responded, "Change it!”
And, he did. A year later, on June 15, 2012.
Consulting no one, deciding which immigration laws he wanted ignored and which obeyed, he directed Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to stop deporting illegal immigrants who came here as children, children up to age 30.
His reason? He was taking action when Congress didn’t in order to "fix our broken system.”
On February 23, 2011 he instructed the Department of Justice to stop enforcing the Defense of Marriage Act. He said he believed the law shouldn’t exist.
In 2012 by executive order he made Senate recess appointments of three people to the National Labor Relations Board.
In 2013 he gave the Environmental Protection Agency instructions to impose regulations capping carbon emissions, effectively shutting down the coal industry.
On July 13, 2012 he bypassed Congress and waived the work requirements portion of the federal welfare laws.
On October 27, 2011 he announced initiatives for college students repay federal loans, homeowners to meet their mortgage payments and 8,00 veterans to find jobs.
On his own.
His reasoning? "We can’t wait for Congress to do its job, so where they won’t act, I will.”
He has unilaterally changed the Obamacare law so many times, delaying deadlines, granting exemptions that we are weary trying to keep up with them.
It has been a presidential pattern.
He is an angry man. He despairs at the limitations which are placed upon him by the Constitution. As president, he is insulted that he should be limited in any way.
And his disapproval of the country he leads is apparent.
In 2009 in Cairo, he apologized for America as the colonialist nation he believes it to be, a country that he says has used, abused and treated Muslim-majority countries "without regard to their own aspirations.”
At the same time his administration ignores the Christians which have been killed in uprisings in the Middle East. His DOJ persecutes religious entities for failure to conform to Obamacare contraception mandate, such as the Little Sisters of the Poor and companies that have a religious based philosophy like Hobby Lobby.
And he allows his "enemies” to be targeted and harassed by his own governmental agencies.
But the rest of the world always knew who Barack Obama was.
China, Syria, Iran, Russia, and others laugh at him when he denigrates his own country and when he makes poor foreign policy decisions. And they tell us: America is not as strong as it used to be because of his leadership.
Those countries profit by the treaties he negotiates with the United Nations and Russia, the missteps he makes with Syria and Egypt and his lack of foreign policy expertise.
His foreign policies do not happen arbitrarily, but instead have a goal: To weaken the U.S. national defense systems, to channel American money away from America to Third World countries and to make amends to those Third World countries for what he believes are America’s transgressions.
All presidents have used them, but executive orders have Constitutional constraints.
Jonathan Turley, a constitutional scholar at George Washington University evaluated Obama’s use of executive orders and said, " Obama’s not interpreting the law; he’s changing the law.
"He’s changing deadlines that were the subject of intense legislative debate. President Obama meets every definition of an imperial presidency. He is the president that Richard Nixon always wanted to be.”
And this from a guy who voted for Obama.
Yes, the future does come one day at a time.
Remember when you lost the weight on a diet, slowly, a day at a time and one day could scarcely recognize yourself when you looked in the mirror.
One day we will look at our country. Careworn and broken in spirit, lied to and surveilled by our own government, our wealth redistributed, broken and sad, we will be unable to recognize our country as the proud, robust country it once was.
It will be precisely because of what Barack Obama has done. And it all will have happened one day at a time.
Hold the line, America.
