You Didn't Answer The Red Phone, Hillary

"We started giving out scholarships to people from all backgrounds for superior academic performance and demonstration of humanitarian qualities. Unless you cared about other people, it didn’t matter how smart you were. We’ve got plenty of people like that. We don’t need smart people who don’t care about other people.” Dr. Benjamin Carson, Pediatric Neurosurgeon, Johns Hopkins Hospital

          Every man has his price.
For Judas it was 30 pieces of silver. For Benedict Arnold it was for a prestigious commission in the British Army. And for Hillary it was trading testimony for paid-off campaign debts and a lucrative career on the paid speaking circuit starting this spring.
It is not clear how much it cost Obama to buy CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC and the print media.
But for some, attention to duty is their main reward. Take for instance the police officer from the West Midlands Police Department in the UK whose story hit the news this week.
This officer’s willingness to provide facts about any police matter in which he is involved stood in stark contrast to the unprofessional behavior of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, two key officials who were directly responsible, but never provided any facts about the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack.
In a series of mishaps, a fall and a hospitalization, Clinton called in sick for months, thereby successfully avoiding testifying before Congress about Benghazi.
As for Panetta, well he just didn’t comment until five months later when he testified on Capitol Hill. At that time he said that on the night of 9/11, after initial contact, he did not communicate with a single person at the White House and that Obama did not call or communicate in any way after that.
          The press never asked why.
And for some unknown reason, directly after the deaths in Benghazi, both the State Department and the White House decided to farm out "information dissemination” about the attack to U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, thereby providing bogus information to the public before providing no information at all.
          The press never asked why.
These people, elected and appointed, are supposedly responsible to us, but acting in concert with their president and the media, they end up responsible to no one.
Now some say after Hill ended up in the hospital that "we” should apologize to her for doubting the validity of her "sick days.” She was sick. How dare you even ask, they say?
It was the same argument Jesse Jackson, Sr. used when speaking about his son’s mysterious absence from his job in the United States Congress for months. He was "sick,” it was "inappropriate” to ask why he was not doing the job for which he was elected and paid to do, Jackson, Sr. sputtered.
Some say, including Hill’s boss, that "we” ask too many questions in general, about Benghazi for sure, and that we should stop. They’ve all been answered.
But Sean Smith’s mom disagrees. She says she still doesn’t know how her son died and that no one in a position of authority will tell her.
During an October, 2012 interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Mrs. Smith said high ranking officials met with her, Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, President Obama, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, and all promised they would tell her what happened to her son in Benghazi.
"That Susan Rice. She talked to me personally and she said, ‘This is the way it was. It was because of this film that came out.’
"Leon Panetta actually took my face in his hands and he said, ‘Trust me. I will tell you what happened. And so far, he’s told me nothing. Nothing at all. And I want to know.
"I look at TV and I see bloody hand prints on walls, thinking, ‘My god. Is that my son’s? I don’t know if he was shot…They haven’t told me anything. They are still studying it. And the things they are telling me are just outright lies.”
And although he was killed in December, 2010, Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry’s mom still doesn’t know critical facts about her son’s death, so she posted this message on Facebook:
"This is for you, son. Mr. Holder, how come you can never say my son’s name? You never have. All I ever hear you say is ‘I didn’t find out or I can’t say.’ I’m actually tired of hearing your double talk in answering questions. What a joke you are. You know my son was a real American, a warrior and a hero, who was also protecting coward politicians like you.”
But as with all things Obama, Benghazi and the Fast and Furious gun-running scheme are now closed. No facts are forthcoming as to what happened or who was responsible for either of these tragedies, but the matters are closed, something that could only have happened with a state-controlled media.
In the months following the September 11 attack, Secretaries Panetta and Clinton were eerily nowhere to be found. It was their baby, but they decided they just didn’t want to play. And the press never asked them why.
When both testified before Congress more than four months later, it was clear that in Hill’s and Panetta’s minds Benghazi was over. "What was all the fuss about,” Panetta’s attitude at the hearings said? Or as Hill aptly put it, "What difference does it make?
This month Panetta was very visible, front and center, promptly producing for the president the number of civilian government layoffs that would occur if sequestration took place. And the press was there to report it.
          Priorities.
As for the media lap dogs, well, they don’t pursue these types of things. Lack of access to a golf trip with Tiger Woods and the president, yes, that ruffles their feathers, but not Benghazi. Not Fast and Furious.
And not the scandal in the Environmental Protection Agency which involves Administrator Lisa Jackson and the creation of a phony employee and his phony e-mail address which she used to conduct official business! By doing this, she would then be able to avoid federal record-keeping and disclosure requirements, creating delays should EPA e-mails be requested by court order.
Never heard of it? That’s because no one in the media covered it.
Unfortunately for "we the people,” government officials including the president, are never put on the spot, never investigated by the people who could do it best -- the press. And when they are in dereliction of their duties, the press spins and spins it until the officials end up being rewarded for their poor performances.
One day before her testimony before both houses of Congress, Hill amazingly paid off the outstanding debt from her 2008 presidential campaign and then, apparently fully regaining her health, has signed up to embark on a speaking tour to begin this spring. Her take? Two hundred and fifty thousand per gig to speak about what she did as secretary of state.
The up side: Maybe we’ll find out what happened in Benghazi.
After stonewalling Congress in Fast and Furious investigations, Holder got a pass from his own Department of Justice. He did nothing wrong, the DOJ said and was allowed to keep his job. Ditto the shadowy foursome who were "fired” from the State Department after Benghazi.
It’s all good, friends, unless you’re us.
Unfortunately for "we the people” what passes for news for us is what the president decides will be heard as news in his "transparent” administration: planned White House leaks; soft TV interviews with pals such as CBS’ Steve Krofts; document dumps on weekends to avoid negative coverage; and staged "press conferences” where the rule is, "Don’t tell, don’t ask.”
If he doesn’t tell them, the press doesn’t ask. Daily Caller’s Neil Munro apparently didn’t know the rules and was chased out of a Rose Garden "press conference” last year by his own colleagues for asking a real question about immigration.
Investigative reporting? Intellectual curiosity? Nope. Doesn’t exist.
Used to be tracking down a hot lead was what it was all about, but now the mainstream media are stenographers and mouthpieces for what the White House wants to put out there and the White House likes it just fine.
In the meanwhile the media exempts themselves from any type of journalistic standards and the president from any type of accountability by admiringly claiming Obama to be an expert at managing the media, a method against which they are happily powerless.
What they don’t realize, because they never vetted the man, is that this is simply "community organizing.”
And what happens to the people who actually do their jobs? Well, nothing good.
Dr. Ben Carson was criticized for being "inappropriate” at a Washington Prayer Breakfast when he talked turkey about issues Obama never mentions, and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is now being hounded by his colleagues, the New York Times and Politico as being a "birther,” (having been born in Canada, now a U.S. citizen) and inappropriately aggressive for a junior senator.
And finally, despite his exemplar performance in the line of duty, Officer Peach is in trouble.
In his blind devotion to duty, Office Peach produced a witness statement that did not go over well with the Crown Prosecution Service.
Prosecutors had been asking repeatedly for a witness account of a crime by "PC Peach,” not realizing that the officer was actually an Alsatian.
Yes, unfortunately for all concerned, Police Constable Peach was in reality Police Dog Peach. The dog’s statement read: "I chase him. I bite him. Bad man. He tasty. Good boy. Good boy Peach.” It was signed with his paw print.
The form was pinned up at a West Midlands Police station last week for amusement purposes and found its way onto a "cop humor” Facebook page, but the Crown Prosecutor was not amused. Now PD Peach and his handlers are themselves under investigation.
What a shame for such a Good Boy!
Would that Holder, Obama and Clinton could be as forthcoming as this gallant fellow.
          Hold the line, America.
