"Neighborhood Watch" used to be about watching your neighborhood.
But that doesn't cut it anymore.
"Neighborhoods" have grown way beyond city limits. What is happening in California, in London, in Germany, is going to end up in your back yard.
There was a time we could depend on the Fourth Estate to ferret out the facts and report them to us.
But in the age of Obama, that's all gone to pot, and what we're left with are "reporters" like CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta.
Jim loves to see his face on TV, but isn't much into reporting on world events.
Unlike Brenda Starr. Not only was she a gorgeous redhead, but she was a crackerjack "Starr Reporter."
She could spot a scoop at fifty paces. And so could The Daily Planet's cub reporter, Jimmy Olson. They were hungry for news.
Can you imagine if they had had YouTube?
Nowadays we are fortunate to have the "Fifth Estate," conservative podcasters, bloggers, vloggers, and private citizens who attend town council meetings, filming and posting them.
On YouTube.
They report the real news, treading where angels won't, and traveling wherever they must.
In North Carolina, Mark Robinson spoke out at a Greensboro City Council meeting, defending gun rights, but ended up verbalizing what law-biding citizens across the country were thinking.
"I've heard a lot of people talking tonight about this group and that group, domestic violence, blacks, this minority, that minority.
"What I want to know is when are all of you going to start standing up for the majority?
Indeed.
"We're the first ones taxed, and the last ones considered. And the first ones punished when things like this (shootings) happen. And it's our rights that are being taken away.
He's right. They are.
Conservative political commentator Steven Crowder's podcasts are periodically suspended from Twitter and YouTube.
And when British conservative reporter Katie Hopkins brilliantly reports on the Islamafication of Britain, and the squalor in the homeless pockets of LA and San Francisco, she is relentlessly castigated. She noted:
"The conservatives and particularly white conservatives are the only kind of grouping that have no protection whatsoever, either in the marketplace or politically."
In Europe, young defenders of freedom of speech are being arrested, because they are defending freedom of speech.
Canadian activist Lauren Southern advocates for stricter borders and freedom of speech. In March, she conducted a social experiment. She distributed literature which asked, "Is Allah gay?" This was in response to an LGBT pamphlet which asked, "Is Jesus gay?" The LGBT's didn't get arrested. Lauren did.
She was detained in Calais under the UK Terrorism Act, and when detained, was asked how she felt about running Muslims over with cars.
Conservative and freedom of speech advocates Brittany Pettibone, an American, and Martin Sellner, an Austrian, were also arrested, held for three days in a UK prison, then released and kicked out of the country.
Pettibone was in the UK to interview Tommy Robinson. Sellner to give a speech at Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park.
Now you may not know Tommy Robinson, or the other activists. The mainstream media doesn't report on these people. But you can catch them and their important work on YouTube.
Robinson is an ardent opponent of radical Islam, and has received numerous death threats because of it. This week he was arrested for "Breach of the Peace," for streaming a video outside Leeds Crown Court. He was scooped up, arrested and immediately sentenced to 13 months in jail.
When this occurred, some U.S. media reported it, but neglected to report that Robinson was covering the trial of militant Islamists, who were on trial for running pedophile rings, and grooming underage girls to be paired up with adult men.
And that it was one of many such trials. And a recurrent theme throughout Europe. But you won't hear about it in the mainstream media.
You'll have to go to YouTube to find that out.
Hold the line, America.
