He may be a little overweight. And his haircut is a little unusual. But he has a solid 68 percent accuracy rate.
Staten Island Chuck is right on the money with his predictions. That's what separates this groundhog from the rest of the Prognosticators.
There's been a running rivalry between Punxsutawney Phil and Chuck for years, but Phil has always been given special treatment.
This Rock Star Rodent starred in a movie. The media fawns over him. And they largely ignore his spotty 39 percent accuracy rate.
But when you're playing the game, accuracy is all that counts. Whether you're a groundhog or a president.
On Groundhog Day 2018, Chuck rode up in his Chuck-Avator elevator at the Staten Island Zoo, sniffed the air, and at 7:30 made his Prognostication: "Spring is on the way."
Over in Gobbler's Knob, Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter. That was on February 2nd. Today temps are in the 70s, and whatever snow we had melted away like cotton candy within hours.
Chuck and Phil's rivalry is similar to what's going on between Obama and Trump. Trump has been so right, so often, it makes one's heart sing. And Obama has been so wrong, so often, it seems statistically impossible.
Most distressing of all is that Obama never seems to realize what he says is on tape. And can be replayed. When he contradicts himself. Or talks to a Russian president on an open mic.
Like when he ridiculed Mitt Romney about Romney's characterization of Russia as a formidable foe, during the 2012 debates;
When he ridiculed Donald Trump for saying he was being wiretapped;
And when he advised candidate Trump to "stop whining" about elections being rigged.
"There's no evidence that (rigging) has happened in the past or that it will happen this time," Obama sneered. (Except in the 1800's, Barack...Remember Gangs of New York? Tammany Hall? Oops!) "And so I'd invite Mr. Trump to stop whining and make his case to get votes."
And then we found the Democratic primary was indeed rigged. That the FBI did wiretap Trump. And when Hillary didn't win, she whined it was all Russia's fault.
Last Friday Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein called a hasty press conference to announce the indictment of 13 Russian nationals, after an 18-month investigation by a Special Counsel into Trump's ties to the Russians.
Okay...
The indictment, Rosenstein said, alleges that Russian nationals conspired "to promote discord in the U.S. and undermine public confidence in democracy."
So...
He added that the indictment does not indicate that "any American" was a "knowing participant" in the Russian meddling, and that this "does not suggest the Russian nationals altered the outcome of the 2016 elections."
There was no mention of the sale of U.S. uranium to Russia, known as the "Uranium One Scandal." Or the Democrats' ties to Russia, including Rosenstein's. Or the leg-up Hillary Clinton's "carelessly"
handled classified, government e-mails probably gave the Russians..
And there was no apology to President Trump for the intelligence community's persecution. Such a statement would implicate Obama and Hillary, the intelligence community and Deep Staters, something the FBI, the DOJ and intelligence community have fought desperately to prevent.
It would reveal the FBI as tainted; their performance in protecting Americans as abysmal. So we know what Rosenstein is doing and why he's doing it.
In the wake of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, he is is getting out ahead of the mounting evidence that the FBI hasn't the ability to catch the bad guys, because they are the bad guys. "See something, say something," has become a joke.
Funnier still is Rosenstein thanking the very people who inhabit Obama's Deep State.
"The Department of Justice will continue to work cooperatively with other law enforcement and intelligence agencies, and with Congress, to defend our nation against similar current and future schemes. I want to thank the federal agents and prosecutors working on this case for their exceptional service."
Does he mean they will now investigate Deep State "schemes?" The Clinton Campaign purchase of the Steele Dossier? The use of the Dossier to secure a FISA warrant to spy on Americans citizens?
Will they investigate the illegal unmasking of American citizens by Susan Rice and Samantha Power? Or question what Obama meant when he assured Russian President Medvedev that he would have more flexibility to deal with Putin after the 2012 election?
Americans were told we needed a Special Counsel because there was Russian collusion everywhere. It turns out there was, but not with Donald Trump.
If anything, Russian President Putin wanted and expected Hillary to win. She was perfect, weak, like Obama, and would carry out his policies. And, in turn, the Russians could capitalize on the Obama-inspired, Soros-funded protests in our streets that are threatening to tear our country apart, The Women's March, Antifa, Black Lives Matter, the riot at Berkeley, all of them riddled with and infiltrated by anarchistic groups.
Will Rosenstein and Mueller investigate that? Or will they continue to investigate Donald Trump?
Hold the line, America.
