If you are going to dream, you might as well dream big.
That's what the president said, and he probably shouldn't have.
Now every Central American and Mexican is dreaming big.
About living in the U.S. of A. And now they're dreaming even bigger.
Now they are saying "If you don't let us into the country, we want $50,000 per person." And who knows. Maybe 40 acres and a mule.
Democrats are having visions, too. No, not of sugarplums dancing in their heads. They are dreaming of millions of illegal immigrants, all pushing the "Vote" button next to "Democrat."
Yet Democrats wring their hands in despair, in public, about borders. How we need them. How they want them. But they don't mean it.
Videos attest to the fact.
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in 2009. Hillary in 2015. And Obama in 2006. All were disgusted with illegal immigration and said so. On video.
"We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented unchecked and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently and lawfully to become immigrants into this country," Obama stated at a 2006 news conference.
Chuck agreed. At a 2009 Immigration Policy Conference at Georgetown Law, he said, "Illegal immigration is wrong." And Hillary agreed.
"I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in," Clinton claimed at a campaign stop, in 2015.
In actuality all three senators voted for the Secure Fence Act of 2006, authorizing 700 miles of fencing along the U.S./Mexico border.
But that was then, and this is now.
Congressmen are leaving Congress to derail Trump's border wall. Retiring. Leaving early on Christmas recess. Not coming back. Even though there is mucho chatter about how terrible it would be to shut down the government...when Trump does it...Not when Schumer did.
It takes a lot of hard work to ignore people. But the bunch we have in Congress are good at it. Ignoring what Americans want. which is shutting down the government, if it helps get the Wall built.
But elected officials are deliberately tone deaf. Especially "Why-Is-He-Still-Here" Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI), and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky).
They are on someone's side. It's not Trump's. And it's not yours.
On the eve of the government shutdown, McConnell didn't support the president. Again. Congress will fund the government through February 2019. When Democrats will control the House and the Wall will be dead in the water.
Forever. Ignoring the will of the people.
Illegal immigration costs U.S. taxpayers $116 billion dollars a year, yet Congress will not give the president the $5 billion dollars he has requested to build the Wall.
To add insult to injury, McConnell just announced that American taxpayers will give $10.6 billion dollars to governments in Central America and Mexico, $5.8 billion to Central America. $4.8 billion to Mexico.
The theory its that the economies of these countries is so bad, their citizens have to come here.
They have to.
And, the theory goes, if McConnell and Friends throw your money at those "non-functioning governments," it will stem the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S.
It won't.
The United Nations Department on Drugs and Crime in Central America says so.
A U.N. report explains why the seven countries of Central America are vulnerable to crime: Drug Trafficking. Murder. Youth Gangs. Violence Against Women and Children. Firearm Trafficking. Kidnapping. Money Laundering.
And most importantly of all: Corruption.
But our Congress will turn over $5.8 billion dollars to the corrupt leaders of Central American countries. And had no trouble securing the funding.
Rumor has it that Trump supporters have had it: The White House backing down on The Wall. Not shutting down the government to secure financing for the Wall. This is the "Line in the Sand," some grumble.
It should not be.
Who else but Donald Trump could have endured the cruel, unfair treatment he has received at the hand of those who made their money in The Swamp, and don't want to lose it.
From those who want to change America into a Communist country.
From those who lie, cheat and subvert the law in order to remove him from office.
Trump has done what Obama said couldn't be done, and reversed the damage Obama has done. And he is crucified for it at every turn. Why in the world would he volunteer to take this job?
Because right now, he's "The One."
There is a story about Esther.* She was the queen of Persia, but she had a secret. She was a Jew, and she kept it a secret. One day she learned that the Jews were about to be wiped out, and she had the power to prevent it. But she was afraid. Afraid she'd lose her throne, and perhaps even her life.
Then someone said to her, "Who knows. Maybe this is what all of it was for."
Maybe.
There comes the time when each of us are called on to be "The One." When we have to do what we would rather not. When we'd rather the cup pass from our lips.
Now the time has arrived for you, the time when you have the obligation to be as strong as our president has been for us.
The time has arrived, friend. Trust. Support him. You are now "The One."
Be strong, Patriots.
Hold the line, America.
