In view of the incompetence of the Biden administration, one cannot help but think of Donald Trump, and his competent, always "getting it done" attitude.
In 1980 during the Koch administration, the Wollman Rink was closed for 2-1/2 years for renovations, but after $4.7 million dollars, in 1986, city officials announced plans to start all over. They couldn't get it done. The ice wouldn't freeze.
It was then The Donald offered to both take on and finance the project.
"Since I myself knew absolutely nothing about building rinks," Trump said, "I set out to find the best skating rink builder I could. Logic suggested the best place to look was Canada."
That company was CIMCO, a 75-year-old Toronto-based company that was responsible for the ice in Maple Leaf Gardens and the Montreal Forum.
In six months, at a cost of $3 million, the rink was up and running.
Remember this story. And remember Democrat Mayor de Blasio cut ties with the Trump organization and Wollman Rink in 2021.
Men like Trump are hard to find. Men like de Blasio and Joe Biden, they're a dime a dozen.
Hang tough.
