History's on its way out. Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson. They are all getting a bad rap as racists. And Trump is getting the Gen. Robert E. Lee treatment.

After the Civil War, his foes turned Lee's home into Arlington Cemetery, and Trump's foes today are working on keeping him out of Arlington, or anywhere near elected office.

Thomas Paine's Common Sense makes a lot of sense today, especially after Obama and during President Joe's administration.

"The whole power of the Crown will be exerted to keep this continent as low and as humble. Instead of going forward, we shall go backward," Paine wrote.

"We are already greater than the king wishes us to be, and will he not hereafter endeavor to make us less?"

This powerful pamphlet, which changed the course of history, speaks to the current state of events that America is facing once more. The main point of Paine's treatise was "What are we getting out of this government? This government ruling us "from afar," in a bubble as fully afar as a Parliament and King in England.

His answer was "Nothing."

The more things change, the more they stay the same, don't they?
