Identity politics is an ugly business, but it's the only kind of business Democrats know how to operate.
Even when it makes no sense.
This week the Coalition of African American Pastors President Rev. Bill Owens and his wife Deborah commented on the Democrat Party's claim that the United States is "inherently racist."
“To me, it’s two-faced, because how could a black man make it to the top politically, and become President of the United States of America, under the American flag," Deborah Owens asked, "but now they’re saying the country that elected him is inherently racist?”
"That’s racist...in my opinion. So, they try to have their cake and eat it too. They don’t have anything to criticize Trump, on substance, so they resort to name calling and trying to stoke division, and bring about resentment and fear and anger.”
Identity politics has a way of biting you in the rump, especially when it makes no sense to people who actually know racism when they see it.
Hang tough.
