The Bubonic Plague was no picnic. Called "The Black Death," the disease killed between 75 to 200 million people in Europe in 1348. People contracting it died within eight days.
The affliction caused a horrible death. It was spread by fleas on rodents. Like in rats. People bitten by the fleas succumbed and died.
Luckily we've learned from history. Or have we? In our biggest, cosmopolitan cities rats are running the show again.
These little buggers are so healthy, they can drag home "a slice" without breaking a sweat.
And while all this happens around us, the officials in charge do nothing. That's probably why Chicago is called The Rat Capital of the U.S., with the Big Apple close behind.
You think we'd learn to elect responsible politicians. But that is an oxymoron, isn't it.
Hang tough.
