For most of us, not showing up for work without a timely explanation would get us fired. Missing in action for weeks and weeks would have to be explained.
If you suddenly fall ill that’s one thing. But Sen. John Fetterman was sick before he ran for the Senate, and he was sick all during the campaign.
And now he's landed in the Psychiatric Wing of Walter Reed Hospital, and has been there for more than five weeks.
That's pretty long for a hospital stay for depression, the Philadelphia Inquirer told a Fetterman spokesman. The lengthy stay, Fetterman's aide said, is "about John getting the care he needs and not rushing this."
If I'd get fired for being unable to do my job from the moment I was hired, I want John to get the old heave-ho for running on false pretentions regarding his health.
And, as a taxpayer, I want my money back for what he was paid to not work, even if he did buy himself a nifty new suit so he could look like a senator.
Hang tough.
